Lost in the desert

Hardy Hogg-Marchmont was always coming up with mad schemes to make money. He once deliberately went missing for three months in the Gobi Desert, hoping that his wife would eventually give up hope, report him dead, and claim on the life insurance.

Unfortunately, during the exact same ninety days, his wife Countess Isabella also disappeared and no-one reported anyone missing at all. The pair both returned home on the same day, slightly embarrassed and wishing they’d co-ordinated their efforts more carefully.
